On a recent visit to Tony Romas Riyadh, my friends and I were excited to see new items on the menu. We arrived during salah so we had enough time gazing at the huge photos of their beef medallion and spare ribs. We got hungrier by the minute; our mouths salivating at the new dishes. They looked so yummy and juicy on the photos! When we got inside, the place is still the same with their wooden interiors and we felt right at home. There were open areas but we love the ones with the couches overlooking Olaya street. We decided to revert to our usual orders because we can’t decide what we want to try first on the new ones, not that we didn’t try deciding. Also, most of their steaks are not available. Actually, most of the items in their menu are not available. Seriously, what happened?! When our Kickin’ Shrimp arrived, it was dismal. They were smaller than I remembered. It was still delicious, yes, but I was unsatisfied with the size and serving. Disappointed, I turn to the BBQ Ribs. At least this one is nicer than the one we had the last time. It was sweet and smoky. The baby back ribs, which Tony Roma’s is well-known for, was tender and well-proportioned. Again, there were chewy parts that I had to let go; a series of teeth gnashing just won’t cut it. Our extra order of mashed potato looked better in the photo and was not even close to it. It wasn’t “overloaded” with goodness as its name promised. The carrot cake was plain sweet and nutty. And their regular soda didn’t even taste like the usual. I had to ask if I was drinking the diet version or the watered version.
What happened to Tony Roma’s? I hope things get better from now on because we’re willing to return. We know Tony Roma’s can still serve the dishes we loved. After all, this house of ribs takes pride in using the freshest ingredients and innovative cooking techniques, serving mouth-watering dishes and memorable meals, and having an attentive staff. We know that because we’ve eaten here and experienced those. We were witnesses to that a few years ago. And even if we had a subpar experience recently, we still hope for the best next time.
Tony Romas,

me and my friends visited Tony Romas on June 1,2012., lunch time (2pm) at Olaya branch…
the waiter cnt talk english well but nevertheless,he did able to get our orders perfectly.our food arrived fast (20 mins approx) considering we wanted it all served same time.from medallion steaks to asian salad and salmons,,everything is superb! i only hated the drink (pinacolada) which tasted real bad..
i hope they would improve their airconditioning esp by summer and the CR..i dnt knw if its always that dirty or simply coz some group of families with children was there too (who l0oked not well mannered) and might have spread all d tissues on the fl0or…
foods were quite cheap compared to other steakhouse..
will be going back to their place
I visited Tony Roma’s after bugging my husband after a long while. I was excited to try the food since in my country it is not Halal. The decor in the place was superb and it definitely set the mood for a wonderful dinner. The menu was filled with wonderful images of the food served and I was ready to divulge. However, when the food did eventually come, which was a long while later, it did not do justice to the pictures in the menu. The portions were small and the meat looked overcooked. I had been craving for a good steak because I had yet to find a good place in Riyadh. Unfortunately this place did not satisfy my taste buds. The low quality food and the high prices do not do the restaurant any good. They definitely need to improve the quality of the food before I return again.
Probable one of the worst restaurant.
They don’t even have sparkling water.
We have waited 30 min our dish…. for lack of gas in the kitchen!!
We eat bread and butter in the meanwhile.. the butter was melted and rancid!
Don’t come here expecting to recieve the same quality of food as you do back stateside. Quality is seriously lacking and staff needs a bit more training.
